Topographic Modeling and Mapping Activity Model
Your
class will use the plastic contour plates provided to model a
variety of landforms. In the process, they'll learn how contours
are used to represent elevation and how three-dimensional
landmasses can be translated onto a two-dimensional, topographic
map. They'll also gain insight on the earth's features and an
appreciation of the processes involved in their development.
Additionally, your students will learn about map reading, map
symbols, scale, latitude, longitude and direction. Includes an
illustrated teacher and student guide with easy-to-follow
instructions as well as numerous demonstrations and examples.
Recommended for grades 7 to 10.
