Mitosis Simulation Lab

Learn about chromosome function and structure by constructing models using colored pop beads and specially designed magnetic centromeres.  Students will then use these "chromosomes" to model each stage of mitosis.  In the process they'll gain a better understanding of what happens during cell division in both plant and animal cells.  Includes comprehensive teacher and student guides featuring illustrated keys of plant and animal cell mitosis. Your students will:

• Construct models of chromosomes
• Simulate the phases of mitosis in plant and animal cells
• Identify the differences between plant and animal mitosis
• Compare and contrast the processes of mitosis and cytokinesis
