Hero's Engine

This classic apparatus is based on history's earliest steam engine, originally described by Hero of Alexandria about 100 AD.

It consists of a flask, two opposing nozzles and a suspension chain.

A small quantity of water, when heated, will cause steam jets from the nozzles making the vessel rotate.

This is an example of Newton's Third Law of action and reaction.
